Het is de combinatie van verstilling, verrassing en symboliek die deze techniek zo magisch maakt. Aquarelbatik is een verfijnde schildertechniek waarbij transparante aquarelverf wordt ingesloten door contourlijnen. De verf vloeit vrij binnen de vormen, terwijl jij richting geeft aan het beeld. Aquarelbatik vertaalt dit eeuwenoude principe naar papier. In plaats van was gebruik je speciale contourlijnen die de waterige verf begrenzen. Daardoor ontstaan heldere kleurvlakken met zachte overgangen en transparante lagen.
